Competing with the Rasha for the third most common Second race, the Rula are slightly less agreeable with the humans, and tend toward living smaller cities with larger Second race populations. The Rula are the bird people, but lack many of the graceful qualities that their original species posses. Instead they tend toward squat, bulky and awkward. Wings have become armlike, with short clawed fingers. Bodies covered in short stiff feathers, which are frequently shed and regrown, colors range greatly from pure white, black, and any pattern in between. Common variations resemble gulls, crows, parrots and finches, other more rare strains take on features of cranes, ducks, and pigeons. Predatory based species are no longer part of the Rula typings, having been wiped out during the War of Beasts?. Rula are not capable of flight, and each new generation is slowly losing more of the stiff primary feathers present on the arms. Heights range from a petite 4 feet up to towering 7 feet, Rula give birth to a single young once a year, usually in spring. Life spans range in different populations.
Rula were not traditionally well off with humans, but being less threatening, and physically weaker than most other second race, left them with little pressure to change. Not particularly skilled in any field of work, Rula take up odd jobs when able.
The Rula have a special niche in the Halzin nations, any that are capable of growing tail feathers in red and white stripes are treated well, and hired only to produce these special feathers used in both casual fashion, and religious ceremonies.
Other than Halzin Nations, Rula are not common sights in most large cities, spread out amongst smaller cities and traveling groups instead.
